Afton Village neighbors –
You love your dog or cat. Please be a responsible pet owner and keep in mind that your neighbors might not be so crazy about your dog or you if you don’t remember and heed some very simple rules of the City of Houston and of basic courtesy.
The City of Houston has a leash law that requires your dog to be on a leash at all times when he or she is outside of your home or yard.
• No dog (or cat) should be allowed to run free in the neighborhood. This means not letting your dog roam into your neighbors’ yards, even if Fido is out walking with you. Dogs and cats should be in your home or in your fenced yard, and when you take your pooch out for a walk the pooch must be on a leash.
Simple courtesy should rule when you are out for a walk with your pooch.
• Please do not allow your pooch to go onto your neighbors’ yards to do his or her business.
• If your pooch does do his business in a neighbor’s yard when out on a walk with you, you should be armed with a poop bag and pick up that poop and carry it home to dispose of AT YOUR OWN HOME. The plastic sleeve that your newspaper is delivered in makes a great poop bag!
Please follow these City of Houston and simple courtesy rules so that your dog doesn’t become a nuisance in our neighborhood. All your neighbors will appreciate this.
